Once again another gutsy performance from a very young new look Spurs side, who pushed league leaders Long Lane all the way in this game, but lost out to the only goal of the game.
Spurs started the game in a very positive manner and had most of the possession, but could not put the ball in the back of the opposition's net. New striker Shandice Mars looked very lively up front causing the defence all sorts of problems with her blistering pace and at the back, Spurs looked solid with the established back four working as unit.
The only goal of the game came midway through the first half when a hopeful Long Lane looping shot seemed to be going wide, when it hit a divot in the ground and somehow bounced onto the post which fooled our goalkeeper, who tried in vain to keep it out but the ball fell kindly for a visiting forward to shoot home. Straight away Claire Singh made a run down the right wing which lead to us winning a corner, from which a penalty was awarded for a handball. Unfortunately, Rosi Webb's spot kick was hit hard and straight, but bounced out off the crossbar.
The second half once again saw Spurs dominate the game with some excellent passages of play but the Spurs Ladies were unable to finish off the chances they created, although with a bit more luck they should have won the game.
