Report

A long-awaited win for the Spurs Ladies came courtesy of a fine goal, when many chances had once more gone begging against a determined Horley Town team.

Spurs created a number of openings, but failed to put any of them away, leaving Horley with hope that they might snatch something, but Tottenham’s control of the game paid off when Chanel Breen received the ball in the final third and played a sweet through ball over the top of the Horley defence. Shadine Mars raced onto it to find herself facing a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but the speedy striker showed great composure to slot home the winner with only a few minutes to go.

The victory will give the Ladies great confidence and despite missing six first teamers, they showed they have the depth of squad to record wins against the teams around them.

Team: Lacey Amato, Carly Snell, Kerry Daniells, Kelly Herrett (c), Mel Berry, Mary Griffiths, Chanel Breen, Kathleen Clifton, Jade Perrin, Shadine Mars, Katie Taylor (Jendayi Castillo) Unused subs. : - Lisa McCabe, Di Gardiner
