Report

The New Year started with a well-deserved win for the Spurs Ladies First team, as they leap-frogged London Colney in the table after beating them 2-1 at Fred Knights. Halfway through the first half a suspiciously looking offside Colney forward ran on to score the opening goal of the game. The visitors then stepped up the pace an d hit the bar, as well as bringing a good save from Lacey Amato, but before half-time another borderline offside this time went Tottenham’s way and Rosi Webb made no mistake to level it up at 1-1. The second half saw Amato leap upwards to tip a free-kick over the bar, but Spurs created a string of chances, which all went begging until Samarawit Bereket ran at the London Colney defence and squeezed home the winner with ten minutes left. Team: Lacey Amato, Dom Clarke, Kelly Herrett, Athena Yennaris, Hannah Charman, Kathleen Clifton, Samarawit Bereket, Gill Blackmore, Clare Singh (Hayley Graham), Rosi Webb (Jessica Richards), Faye Callaway. Unused subs. : - Kerry Daniells, Jenny Curtis.
