Report

After a close-fought first 20 minutes with few clear-cut chances, Jess Cheeseman rose well to head Spurs into the lead from Emma Kayser's corner.

West Ham got into their stride and responded just before half-time. They took a quick free-kick and although goalkeeper Jo Ayre did well to tip the initial shot onto the crossbar, West Ham were first to the rebound and levelled the score.

The second half continued a similar pattern with both teams enjoying their share of possession.

The visitors took the lead via a one-on-one opportunity 10 minutes into the half and then Spurs were forced into a substitute with Rosie Webb injured in a 50-50 tackle, replaced by Kirsten Thompson.

Bianca Baptiste fired a couple of half-chances off target as Spurs pressed for an equaliser.

Brooklyn Kaylin and Danielle Page were introduced with eight minutes remaining and that gave the ladies a final lift.

The equaliser followed when Jess played a one-two with Kirsten, beat two defenders and hit a shot that was deflected home.

"We had to work hard in tough conditions," added boss Karen. "I was happy with the fitness levels the girls showed especially in the latter stages of the game.

"We looked stronger in the final 10 minutes it was good to see the new signings make their debuts and show such good energy when they came on."

Spurs Ladies: Jo Ayre, Miranda Hall, Ebony Heath, Robyn Downier, Derrie O’Halloran, Nicola Cable, Jess Chessman, Jenna Schillaci, Emma Kayser, Rosi Webb, Bianca Baptise. Subs: Brooklyn Kaylin, Danielle Page, Claire Gibbon, Kirsten Thompson.
