Report

Spurs Ladies are looking for a huge win against QPR this weekend after a 3-1 defeat against Yeovil in the FA Women's Premier League South on Sunday.

With three matches remaining - all winnable, against QPR, Colchester and Gillingham - manager Juan Amoros knows victory over Rangers could go a long way to securing the team's status.

They can also take confidence from their last display against QPR in the mud and rain a month ago, when they were denied victory by an equaliser deep into injury time.

"QPR are battling with us and we have to beat them," stated Juan. "Hopefully there will be a great atmosphere and I can guarantee the girls are looking forward to playing this game."

The match is at Ware FC this Sunday, April 21, kick-off 2pm.

Sunday's loss against fourth-placed Yeovil was somewhat of a reality check after last week's dramatic win against Brighton.

Played in sunny, windy conditions, Yeovil adapted better and took a grip on the match in the first half. Laura Bray scored an individual effort to open the scoring on 26 minutes and Jodi Cornwall headed home Bray's cross for 2-0 just before the break.

Last week's matchwinner Andra Marcoci replaced Rosie Kmita at half-time and it was soon 2-1 as Sam Pittuck headed home Mollie Kmita's cross on 51 minutes.

Jo Ayre kept Spurs in the game with a fine save before a late chance for 2-2 as Andra fired over.

Yeovil then broke and put the issue beyond doubt with Bray's second for 3-1.

Juan added: "We lost the game in the first half. We did not adapt to the conditions properly and paid for it. We were better in the second half and might have got a point, but the luck wasn't with us today."

Spurs Ladies: Ayre, O'Halloran, Schillaci, Downie, Lane, McEvoy, Cooper (Orridge-Golding, 75), Pittuck, Baptiste, R Kmita (Marcoci, 46), M Kmita (Kelly, 85). Unused subs: Waters, Heath.
