Report

Karen Hills highlighted the contribution of a trio of youngsters after Tottenham Hotspur Ladies hit form in style against Chesham United on Sunday.

Lucia Leon (16), Danni Albertsen (16) and Rene Williams (17) all impressed in a convincing 5-1 victory in the FA Women's Premier League South.

Lucia netted twice as the ladies raced into a 3-0 lead at Ware FC while Danni and Rene - both students the Foundation's Education and Football Development Centre at Barnet and Southgate College - completed 90 minutes.

Karen reported: "It was an important game and we got off to a flying start - that's just what we wanted.

"We were 3-0 up inside 15 minutes. Lucia scored the first when she went clean through, skipped around the goalkeeper and slotted home, then Andra Marcoci hit a clean half-volley for 2-0 and Lucia headed home from Andra's corner for 3-0.

"Chesham scored for 3-1 but we went in 4-1 up at half-time after Robyn Downie flicked home another corner from Andra.

"Wendy Martin completed the scoring on the second half. It was good performance and a big win for us because we've had a tough time of late, playing well against the top three without really getting the rewards.

"The biggest positive was the performance of the younger girls, especially Rene and Danni, who played 90 minutes and banked that experience at this level.

"It was also great to see us score a few goals. That's been our problem of late but we clicked from the first whistle and the goals gave us the confidence to go and play.

"We've more important games coming up - Brighton and Charlton - and hopefully we'll take the confidence from this win into those matches."

The ladies are scheduled to face the Seagulls at Ware FC at 2pm on Sunday.
