Report

Spurs Ladies warmed-up for arguably the biggest match in their history with another victory in the FA Women's Premier League on Sunday.

The ladies maintained their unbeaten record in 2015 as goals from Wendy Martin, Sophie McLean and Katie O'Leary secured a 3-0 win against Plymouth at Ware FC. The win moved them up to fourth place in FAWPL South and the squad will now prepare this week for the trip to Notts County in the fifth round of the FA Women's Cup on Sunday - their first competitive match against a Women's Super League team. "We started really well against Plymouth and that was the plan, to get straight on the front foot," reported manager, Karen Hills. "We broke up play and had a real intensity to our game and to be honest, we could have been out of sight by half-time. "Katie O'Leary and Sophie McLean both had shots saved before Riana Soobadoo, who pulled the strings in the first half, picked out a pass for Wendy Martin and she hit a dipper into the top corner. "It stayed 1-0 until half-time and we really started to make inroads down the flanks in the second half with Avilla Bergin and Leah Rawle. "Avilla got down the right and set-up our second goal converted by Sophie on 55 minutes and 10 minutes later, Katie did really well to make it 3-0, she had her back to goal from Jenna Schillaci's corner but managed to spin and fired low past the goalkeeper. "We played really well and it was the perfect game for us before we started focusing on Notts County this week." We'll have more from Karen later in the week... Spurs Ladies v Plymouth: Toni-Anne Wayne; Sophie McLean, Jenna Schillaci, Alex Keown, Lucia Leon (Andra Marcoci, 60); Maya Vio (Bianca Baptiste, 84), Wendy Martin, Riana Soobadoo; Leah Rawle, Katie O'Leary (Shakira Waithe, 80), Avilla Bergin.
