Tottenham Hotspur Ladies produced the perfect finale to their best-ever season on Wednesday night.
Spurs beat QPR 4-0 at New River Stadium, White Hart Lane, to rubber-stamp an impressive fifth place in the FA Women's Premier League Southern Division.
In doing so, they've gained more points (39) and scored more goals (60) in a FAWPL campaign than before and toppled their sixth-place finish in their first season at this level (2011-12) - just one off the top tier of women's football, the Women's Super League.
Spurs made a lively start and were awarded a penalty when Wendy Martin was upended in the fourth minute only for QPR goalkeeper Trippoli Witney to palm away Katie O'Leary's spot-kick.
However, from the corner, Wendy climbed highest to power home a header for 1-0.
The team was then indebted to Toni-Anne Wayne, who kept QPR at bay until the break with three fine saves.
Rosie Kmita doubled the lead three minutes into the second half with a fine solo effort and in-form Bianca Baptiste turned home O'Leary's cross for 3-0 minutes later.
Rosie completed what turned out to be a convincing win with another cracker 20 minutes from time, cutting from the right before drilling into the top corner.
"It's been another progressive season and we're all delighted to finish fifth," said manager, Karen Hills. "We ended up with almost double our previous best points and goals totals and we've played some fantastic football.
"Another positive about this win was that we gave another two debuts to younger players - Courtney Miller and Jonea Peters - and that meant we had five players who have come through our college system in the team.
"As for the game itself, we started ever so well, got ahead but we were never really at ease in the first half and we needed Toni-Anne make a few saves to hold onto the lead.
"We said at half-time to relax more in possession, to be less anxious and the girls responded. We scored three superb goals and Rosie's second was an absolute cracker into the top corner.
"It was the perfect way to end the season and now we look ahead and try to progress again."
