Karen Hills was delighted to put an end to a minor blip in league form as Spurs Ladies beat QPR 1-0 on Sunday.
The ladies had gone three matches without victory in the FA Women's Premier League but came away from Uxbridge with the type of win that could take them places this season.
Still competing in three cup competitions, with the FA Women's Cup to follow, Spurs are just behind the front runners in the FAWPL South but within touching distance of the top three. Cardiff, however, are flying with eight wins in 10 and currently four points clear at the top.
Bianca Baptiste scored the only goal of the game on 66 minutes, racing onto Kelley Blanchflower's pass to finish in style past QPR goalkeeper Sophie Cheadle.
"We were in control in the first half and had lots of possession without really threatening," reflected manager Karen Hills.
"We had a few words at half-time and our game was more intense in the second half. We wanted it a bit more.
"We made a couple of changes. Kelley Blanchflower came on, injected some energy and set-up Bianca for the goal.
"Wendy Martin also came on for her first game back after injury and she added a real calmness to our game. She's an important player for us.
"Chloe Morgan still had to make one fantastic one-on-one save late on and she impressed throughout. Maya Vio was also excellent in midfield, her pass completion was was spot on.
"It was one of those games where you just need to get the job done and we did that. It was a big win for us."
