Report

Spurs Ladies aim to maintain their rich vein of form when they take on Stoke in their latest pre-season on Sunday.

After wins against London Bees and Gillingham, the ladies put Norwich to the sword 6-1 last weekend with Mia Vio, Lucia Leon, Jenna Schillaci, Riana Soobadoo, Avilla Bergin and Leah Rawle on target. The match was level at the break before Spurs clicked into top gear in the second half.

“We weren’t at our best in the first half but we dominated the second half, looked more settled, our fitness levels were good and we were clinical in front of goal,” said manager, Karen Hills.

“Katie O’Leary came on in the second half and made a difference, held the ball up for us and brought other players into the game.

“The last goal summed-up what we’re looking for as we didn’t rush or try to push it, we kept possession, went left to right and back and then made the right pass and finished.

“Things are going well so far and the players look confident as the season approaches.”

Spurs Ladies take on Stoke at the Frederick Knight Sports Ground on Sunday (12.30pm).

Congratulations to Spurs Ladies Under-16 players Sophie Tudor and Gemma Biggadyke, who were both called up for Wales U17 training camps.
