Report

We were beaten 2-0 at home by West Ham United in the Women's Super League on Sunday, Dagny Brynjarsdottir missing a penalty and then scoring for the visitors and Hawa Cissoko adding a second late on.

Rehanne Skinner made four changes to the team that lost 1-0 at Reading last weekend, Kerys Harrop, So-hyun Cho, Celin Bizet and Chioma Ubogagu coming in for Asmita Ale, Angharad James, Jessica Naz and Ashleigh Neville respectively.

Eveliina Summanen struck over the bar from distance early on, before Rosella Ayane curled into the keeper's gloves. Cho pulled the ball back into a dangerous area moments later, but West Ham cleared it, and Bizet then had a cross pushed over the bar.

Summannen put a menacing cross into the box in the 25th minute, but once again the away side cleared the danger, before struggling to handle Molly Bartrip's corner. The ball fell kindly to Bizet, who scuffed the shot. She then got down the right wing and put a good cross in, only for Ubogagu to see her header blocked with half-time approaching.

In added time at the end of the first half, Harrop challenged Kate Longhurst and condeded a penalty, only for Brynjarsdottir to put it wide of the post. Claudia Walker then struck straight into Becky Spencer's gloves and we went into the break at 0-0.

West Ham took the lead early in the second half when Bartrip went down after being struck in the face by the ball. The referee allowed play to continue and Brynjarsdottir put the ball into the back of the net.

Nikola Karczewska and Neville then came on for Ayane and Harrop.

Kirsty Smith fired over the bar from long range as West Ham hunted a second, and Amy Turner was on hand to deal with a dangerous ball into the box. Neville shot just wide of the post as the home supporters urged us to attack at Brisbane Road in search of an equalising goal.

Naz and James came on for Bizet and Cho before Drew Spence shot into the keeper's gloves, and a Shelina Zadorsky free-kick was headed back across goal by Neville at Mackenzie Arnold.

West Ham then broke free on the counter and Cissoko lobbed Spencer for 2-0, despite Bartrip's valiant efforts to keep the ball out. She then had to be replaced by Asmita Ale.
