Report

Spurs Women were beaten 3-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Women's Super League on Sunday.

First half goals from Sam Kerr, Erin Cuthbert, and a Guro Reiten penalty saw the hosts go into the break with a comfortable lead, and Chelsea protected the scoreline until the final whistle.

Rehanne Skinner made one change to the side that beat Brighton & Hove Albion 8-0, Jessica Naz replacing Nikola Karczewska, who was suffering from an ankle injury.

Eveliina Summanen had the first chance of the game, going for goal with a long-range free-kick in the eighth minute, which was routine for Ann-Katrin Berger to collect.

Chelsea took the lead when Millie Bright played the ball forward to Sam Kerr, who cut back onto her right foot and fired past Tinja-Riika Korpela.

Ashleigh Neville had a promising opportunity at the other end after winning the ball high up the left wing. She cut inside and saw her curling effort caught by Berger.

Kerr was in the danger area again moments later, but Korpela got down to her right to make a solid save to deny the forward her second.

In the 26th minute, an outswinging Chelsea corner fell to Cuthbert, who controlled the ball before volleying it into the top right corner for 2-0.

Lauren James drew a foul from Neville in the penalty area in the 35th minute and Reiten dispatched the following penalty into the bottom right.

Summanen found Drew Spence in the penalty area with half-time approaching, but the former Chelsea midfielder scuffed the shot wide of the post.

Jessica Naz's cross was caught by Berger with Neville challenging on the brink of half-time and we went into the break 3-0 down.

Korpela caught the ball from Reiten's header early in the second half, and Magdalena Eriksson then shot straight at our keeper from distance.

Chelsea hit the crossbar in the 56th minute when a corner kick came out to Mille Bright, who volleyed it onto the woodwork and over.

Neville carried us forward well just beyond the hour mark before seeing her shot saved comfortably by Berger. Angharad James then fired high and wide following a neat passage of play.

Rosella Ayane came on for her 50th WSL appearance for Spurs when she replaced Celin Bizet in the 69th minute.

With just under 15 minutes remaining, Lauren James struck just wide of the bottom left corner from the edge of the 18-yard box, and Ayane shot over the bar when she had time and space near Chelsea's penalty area.

Chioma Ubogagu came on in the 83rd minute for Neville and saw her cross from the left cushioned over by Spence.
