About THFCDB

Who made this website?

This is the hobby project of one Australian Spurs fan living in Japan. It's just me building and refining it in my spare time.

Why did you make it?

I love seeing how different things connect at Spurs; for example, I really wanted a way to see a history of Spurs matches by kit. That green kit is famous for Ajax away, but which other matches did we wear it in?

Where does the data come from?

Since the site was launched in January 2023, I have added the majority of the data manually.

For historical data, I compiled the data from various sources on the internet, manually cleaning and formatting it for the interface I wanted. Those sources include:

I believe all data I have used is publicly available and free to reproduce, however, if you have any concerns please let me know.

A huge thanks to Glen Whall, who has contributed to the site by adding missing kick off times, referees, goal times and opposition goal scorers. Glen runs Spurs Updates on Facebook.

How did you build the site?

The site is built on Craft CMS and massively leans on the Sprig plugin. I use Tailwind CSS and Alpine JS on the front end and have some custom PHP modules performing different things with data.

Recent Features

I'm constantly building new things and most recently I've added:

  • Map view of venues - allows you to view every venue Spurs have ever played at on a map
  • Weather(!) - ever wondered how Spurs go in the rain? How many times we've played in the snow? This data goes back to 1 January 1940
  • Broad Reports and Player Specific Reports - specialised reports on certain types of data
  • ability to track matches by matchday and kick-off time (for example, all matches on Friday at 8pm)
  • manager cards (Ange was booked in the match against Bournemouth on New Years Eve 2023)
  • programme covers; this is a big feature and it's hard to track down all programmes. I've also tagged players that feature on a programme cover, so you can see all of those

What I'm working on

  • full lineup and goalscorer history
  • formations & positions: this is a big one and I have to edit every single match individually. Currently, all matches from 2000/01 onwards have full formations and position details
  • the full kit history

Can I help?

I would gladly accept any help! See the Contribute page for me details.

Can I support you in other ways?

I build and update this site because I love Spurs and enjoy working with the data, but it does cost a bit of money to pay for hosting, domains, software and outsourcing some specific development. If you enjoy the site and would like to help with some of those running costs, you can do so here.
