Tottenham Hotspur's Premier League preparations stepped up a gear as goals from Harry Kane, Erik Lamela, Dele Alli, Vincent Janssen and Shayon Harrison helped them to an emphatic 6-1 win over Inter Milan in Oslo.

Both teams named strong starting line-ups for the game at the Ullevaal Stadion and there was a competitive edge to an exciting first half.

Spurs took the lead in fortuitous circumstances when Inter full-back Cristian Ansaldi was adjudged to have fouled Kyle Walker inside the penalty area, despite having the ball in his possession at the time.

It was a questionable penalty to say the least, but Kane made it count with an emphatic finish from the spot with just five minutes on the clock.

Inter equalised 19 minutes later when the excellent Ivan Perisic burst into the box down the left and thundered a shot past goalkeeper Michel Vorm.

But the English side were back ahead before the break thanks to a lovely curling strike on the edge of the area from Lamela, who continued his eye-catching preseason with another classy display on the right of the Tottenham attack.

Spurs made a number of changes at the break and one of those, summer signing Janssen, did well to tee up Alli for Spurs' third, before Kane lashed in his second of the game on 57 minutes.

Inter's commitment to the game evaporated as the second half progressed and Spurs began to run riot, with Janssen adding a fifth with a tidy finish into the bottom corner when one-on-one with Samir Handanovic.

And there was still time for some icing on the cake when youngster Harrison, off the bench as a substitute, tucked home Lamela's unselfish cut-back for his first senior goal.

The game was Mauricio Pochettino's first and final opportunity to play his first-team players before the season, and the Argentinian manager will have been impressed with what he saw.

Despite understandable rustiness at times from the likes of Walker, Kane and Alli -- who were given extended breaks after the European Championship -- this was a slick performance from Spurs, particularly in a first period when they found space in the Inter half every time they moved the ball quickly.

Inter have an extra week until the start of the Serie A season, but Roberto Mancini will have taken plenty from a game that highlighted just how important Perisic and Mauro Icardi are to his team.

Spurs will get their Premier League campaign underway against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, Aug. 13.
