Spurs Ladies will look to ditch the Jeckyl side of their Jeckyl and Hyde character at Billericay on Sunday.
They kicked off a vital Greater London Ladies League Premier Division campaign with a big scare last weekend.
Spurs were 2-0 down before finding their feet and four goals against Barnet Copthall. With every point vital in the race for the championship, it is a scenario they will not want to repeat too often — starting in Essex on Sunday.
Barnet Copthall cashed in on defensive errors to take a commanding 2-0 lead inside 20 minutes at the Frederick Knight Sports Ground.
Thankfully Spurs were handed a way back in just before the break when Michelle Oliver’s surging run was brought to an abrupt halt in the penalty area. With regular penalty taker Siw Wiggen away it was left to Lucy Pinnock to bury the spot kick.
Jenna Schillachi’s arrival in the second half seemed to bring Spurs to life.
Last week’s FA Cup star forced the visitors into an own goal to level the scores at 2-2 before setting up Rebecca Lewis to control and shoot home for an excellent third goal. Kelly Mawston capped the recovery after fine work from Gill Blackmore for the fourth.
Spokeswoman Kay Lovelock commented: “We couldn’t believe the start we made but the second half was one-way traffic. I don’t think they had a shot on goal.”
Spurs Ladies: Wilson, Wiltsher, Hammarin, Broderick, D’Agostino, Mawston, Fearon, Pinnock, Blackmore, Lewis, Oliver. Subs: Schillachi, Curtis, Brigitte, Smith-Da Costa.
