Report

Spurs Ladies took three good points from their visit to South London against Long Lane to take the title race to the last game.

A fine passing performance saw the Ladies outplay Long Lane and match them in the physical side of the game to ensure they would not be denied the victory.

Ten minutes in, a good move between Gill Blackmore (pictured) and Rosi Webb ended with Webb converting a save from Blackmore’s shot to see Spurs take a 1-0 lead. Webb returned the favour by setting up Blackmore from Faye Callaway’s cross to strike number two.

The home side started a long ball bombardment of the THLFC defence, but Spurs broke away and Kat Clifton picked out Jessie Richards with her cross to finish well for a 3-0 lead. It was soon 4-0 before the break when Callaway dinked a ball over the Long Lane defence and Webb ran on to coolly shoot home.

Although Long Lane scored soon after the interval, Spurs showed great discipline to see out the rest of the match to go into the decider for the title in their final game at home to Horley Town at Fred Knights. All are welcome to see the match for free with the kick off at 2pm this Sunday, May 4.

Squad : - Lacey Amato, Dom Clarke, Kelly Herrett (c), Athena Yennaris, Kerry Daniells, Kat Clifton, Gill Blackmore (Jenny Curtis), Mel Berry, Faye Callaway (Geena Gordon), Jessie Richards, Rosi Webb (Samrawit Bereket).
