Report

Spurs Ladies lost out 1-3 to Luton Town, who are setting the pace at the top of the South-East Combination table.

Spurs started the brighter with a strong attack from the midfield, which produced a shot which was blocked by the Town keeper.

Passing the ball sharply, the Ladies switched the play to Carmel Clinton, who hit an excellent shot to beat the keeper and take Spurs into the lead. Tottenham had opportunities to increase the lead, with Stavroulla Panayiotou (pictured) doing well in midfield on her first start, but Luton managed to keep the ball out and in the 37th minute, a thunderbolt of a shot from the home side brought the game level.

The second half saw Luton hit Spurs early on to take the lead and despite Tottenham having good spells of possession and threatening the Luton goal, a late sucker punch made the final score 3-1, but not before Spurs keeper Ricole Vyse pulled off a spectacular double save.

Team: Ricole Vyse, Dom Clarke, Kelly Herrett (c), Ebony Heath, Kerry Daniells, Carmel Clinton, Mel Berry, Stavroulla Panayiotou (Claire Singh), Kirsten Thomson, Jessie Richards (Sasha Kelly), Natasha Ademakinwa (Ayo Okunuga). Unused sub: Jenny Curtis.
