Report

The Spurs Ladies suffered a 6-3 home defeat against Welwyn Garden City at the weekend, despite staging a late rally that had the visitors on the back foot.

A foul on Clare Singh saw a Spurs penalty awarded, which Mel Berry calmly put out of the keeper's reach to give us a first half lead before an equaliser came before the break.

Another penalty, this time for City gave them put them in front after the break, which was followed by some loose play that saw us concede four quick goals.

However, the ladies battled back to give last season's runners-up a nervous last fifteen minutes. Alex Small blocked the keeper's clearance and Jessie Richards (pictured) rounded the keeper to bring it back to 2-6 before the gap was further narrowed by Kirsten Thomson. However, time ran out as Spurs continued to press forward.

The team face an away trip to Northampton Town next Sunday.

Team: Ricole Vyse, Dom Clarke, Kelly Herrett (c), Ebony Heath (Kirsten Thomson), Kerry Daniells (Ayo Okunuga), Mel Berry (Gill Blackmore), Clare Singh, Hayley Graham, Nicola Cable, Jessie Richards, Alex Small
