Report

Spurs Ladies are sticking together as they wait for that elusive first win of the season.

The London Cup holders lost narrowly again in the FA Women's Premier League, Southern Division on Sunday as West Ham took maximum points back to East London courtesy of a 1-0 victory.

It was a match that typified their season so far - in a game of few chances, West Ham took the lead on the half-hour through April Bowers before Spurs were handed the chance to level 15 minutes from time, only for Sam Pittuck to see a penalty saved by Jessica Barling.

"There wasn't much between the teams," reported manager, Karen Hills.

"West Ham scored the only goal of the game in the first half and the second half was tight again with both teams trying to create chances.

"We had a chance in the 75th minute when Jess Cheeseman was brought down for a penalty, Sam stepped up but she was denied by a good save from the West Ham goalkeeper.

"We pressed hard for an equaliser but again fell just short.

"We certainly did enough for a draw and the girls are disappointed with how the results are going at the moment.

"Having said that, the squad is still very much together on and off the pitch and that's going to be the key to us picking up points in the coming weeks."
