Just 10 days after reaching the Ryman Cup Final and a week after progressing in the Women's FA Cup, Spurs came through a dramatic penalty shoot-out at West Ham on Sunday to reach the semi-finals of the Capital Women's Cup.

They will now take on Camden Town from the London & South-East Regional League for a place against either Charlton or QPR in the final.

Goalkeeper Toni-Anne Wayne was the hero of the shoot-out as Spurs hit a 100% strike rate from the spot.

Wayne was one of seven players on target before saving West Ham's seventh attempt. That left new signing Sydney Hinchcliffe the task of winning the shoot-out and she delivered in fine style.

Alex Keown, Bianca Baptiste, Jenna Schillaci, Lucia Leon and Sophie McLean also scored.

Earlier, Avilla Bergin finished off a fine move for Spurs to lead 1-0 early at Hornchurch only for West Ham to drag themselves back into the game.

The Hammers levelled on the half-hour and although Spurs had the greater share of possession, chances were shared out evenly for the rest of the game and into extra time - West Ham hit the woodwork and Bianca Baptiste saw a 'goal' chalked off for offside.

"We controlled the game early and our goal was probably the highlight of the performance," said manager Karen Hills.

"West Ham came more into it, equalised from a free-kick and there were plenty of chances from there for both teams, we just needed that little extra quality.

"Having said that we defended well, showed resilience and dug deep when we had to.

"To then score seven out of seven penalties in the shoot-out was something special. We got the job done and that's all you can hope for in cup ties."

Spurs Ladies return to FA Cup action and a trip to Gillingham in the third round on Sunday (February 7, 2pm).
