Match Report

Spurs Ladies produced a five-star show against West Ham to reach the Ryman Cup Final for the second-successive season on Thursday night.

The team hit the ground running after an enforced month's break due to postponed matches to hit five past the Hammers in the semi-final at Cheshunt FC.

Bianca Baptiste opened the scoring from Avilla Bergin's cross on the half-hour and Wendy Martin doubled the lead before half-time when she was upended and converted the penalty herself.

Martin turned provider for Bergin for a three-goal cushion just minutes into the second half and a dominant performance was capped by a first senior goal for Ronnell Humes for 4-0 and Bergin's second from Humes' assist in the final minute.

The stage is now set for a repeat of last season's Ryman Cup Final against rivals Charlton.

Flying high in FA Women's Premier League South, Charlton take on Herne Bay in the second semi-final scheduled for next week.

Charlton just got the better of Spurs in last season's final and the players will relish a re-match.

"We came out of the blocks so quickly against West Ham," said manager Karen Hills.

"We played at pace, pressed them high and kept them on the back foot. We didn't allow them to play all night, got ourselves ahead and once the third goal went in at the start of the second half we were in control.

"The players were so disappointed to lose out in the final last season and determined to get to the final again. That desire was there for all to see.

"They loved reaching the final last season, loved the build-up, loved being involved - and hated losing it.

"They all want another shot at it - and it showed."

There is little time for the players to rest on their laurels.

They return to cup action and the showpiece tournament - the Women's FA Cup - at Swindon Town on Sunday (2pm). The second round tie has already been postponed twice.
