Match Report

Spurs Robbie Keane was stretchered off after his team lost 2-0 to Glasgow Rangers in a pre-season friendly. Keane damaged his right leg when Marvin Andrews attempted to block a shot after 27 minutes and the Republic of Ireland striker was carried off for treatment.

Nacho Novo had earlier given Rangers the lead after a slip by Anthony Gardner and Dado Prso scored after a touchline error from Stephen Carr.

Chris Burke almost scored a third as Rangers comfortably won.

And Rangers boss Alex McLeish played Liverpool's Gregory Vignal at left-back for the second-half with a view to a possible loan move.

Rangers new signings Prso, Novo, Andrews, Jean Alain Boumsong and Alex Rae all started, but Dragan Mladenovic was rested with a hamstring problem.

New Spurs boss Jacques Santini had newcomers of his own to bed in and Paul Robinson, Sean Davies and Pedro Mendes all started.

Robinson denied Prso almost headed Rangers in front after 19 minutes but Robinson made an instinctive save.

Ledley King then had a great chance for Tottenham but he headed wide.

Novo and Prso were replaced after the break to a rousing reception from the home crowd.

Burke almost made it 3-0 with an audacious chip from outside the box eight minutes from time.

But there were late setbacks for Rangers when Lovenkrands was forced off and Boumsong needed treatment following a challenge by Spurs substitute Gary Doherty.

After the match Novo said he was relieved to score his first goal at Ibrox.

"It was my first match at Ibrox and I am very happy. I was very nervous because it was the first time," he said.

"But after five minutes I could relax a bit and I had the opportunity to score. Every striker likes to score goals and I am very happy."
