Harry Kane struck again as we ended our tour of Korea with a 1-1 draw against Sevilla in the Coupang Play Series at the Suwon World Cup Stadium on Saturday.
Having scored twice in our 6-3 win over Team K League on Wednesday, the striker was there once more to bury our best chance of the night five minutes into the second half against a tough, well organised Sevilla side. It was the deadly duo at it again, as home hero Heung-Min Son somehow found his partner from the edge of the box after Rodrigo Bentancur won possession.
The attendance was 43,998 in Suwon, taking us to almost 110,000 for these matches in the Coupang Play Series - fantastic support here in Korea.
Kane, Son, Hugo Lloris and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg all played 70 minutes, with Eric Dier completing the full 90. Ben Davies and Dejan Kulusevski also returned after slight knocks in training for their first pre-season action, but there was a concern late on when Davies limped off after falling awkwardly. He came back on, but called it a night two minutes later.
Ivan Rakitic drilled home the equaliser for Sevilla on 64 minutes in what was a proper pre-season test against a side who finished fourth in La Liga last term and will join us in the UEFA Champions League in the new campaign.
Antonio Conte made a few changes from our opener in Seoul, notably Kane, Hojbjerg and Lloris all in the starting XI having come off the bench against Team K League. Lucas Moura started at right wing-back, Kane led the line with Son left and Richarlison right of a fluid front three.
Chances were few and far between as the first half, in particular, turned into a bit of a battle. Ryan Sessegnon was inches away from Richarlison's cross on 13 minutes and Son latched onto a poor clearance and curled a yard wide. Kane then had a goal disallowed for offside and Son powered Sessegnon's cross straight at goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic.
Sevilla started to grow into the game and former Spurs favourite Erik Lamela drilled a volley that clipped the outside of the post on 38 minutes. Dier then did well to get back to Rafa Mir after he latched onto a short back-pass and Papu Gomez drilled into the side-netting.
Emerson Royal, Davies, Matt Doherty, Kulusevski, Bentancur and Japhet Tanganga were introduced for the second half in place of Davinson Sanchez, Lucas, Sessegnon, Oliver Skipp and Cristian Romero. It took five minutes for Bentancur to make his mark, winning possession and finding Son, who turned on the edge of the box and was on his way down when he managed to poke a pass through to Kane, who made no mistake.
Rakitic and Pablo Perez had chances for Sevilla before the former struck home powerfully from the edge of the box for 1-1. Kulusevski fired a yard over and Ivan Romero dragged a late chance wide for Sevilla as it ended with honours even in Suwon.
